Helen Clarkson
New Helen has specialised in assisting families with family law matters for over 15 years, having trained and then qualified as a Solicitor in 2012. Helen is an Associate in the Family Team at AWD Law based across both the Fareham and Bishops Waltham Offices. Helen qualified as a Solicitor in 2012, having studied Criminology at University before going on to complete her legal studies.
With a focus on assisting clients to reach their own decisions outside of the court arena, Helen is a Trained Mediator. Mediation is a confidential, voluntary and flexible process available to separating couples which provides a safe place for both clients to openly discuss matters relating to separation, finances and child arrangements.
As a trained professional, Helen acts in an even-handed way as a neutral third party and can give information to assist clients in reaching decisions to help them move forward. Helen often works alongside other professionals, such as Financial Advisors, Pension Experts and Therapists to assist with providing options to clients to aid them in finding solutions.
Whilst Helen will give all options of dispute resolution in an attempt to avoid making an application to the court, Helen is also a qualified advisor and litigator specialising in all areas of family
law. This includes, but is not limited to, advice and representation on matters relating to child arrangements; both with who the child should live and spend time with (previously known as
contact and residence/custody), where the child shall live, any other specific issues (i.e., schooling or health matters), or prohibitive measures required, separation and divorce/dissolution,
financial arrangements; both before and after marriage (pre/post nuptial agreements), financial division upon separation, cohabitation matters and injunctive relief matters.
Helen offers an empathetic, straight talking and professional approach.
Helen is also a committed member of the national organisation, Resolution, where she adheres to a code of practice to work in a constructive, family focused way. Helen is also a member of her
local Hampshire Resolution Committee, arranging various courses for other family law professionals.
Outside of work, Helen enjoys spending time with her boys (even if that primarily consists of being a taxi to various sporting events!) and relaxing with a good book.
