Edward Cooke

Having started his legal career in London, Edward Cooke spent 18 years (14 years as a partner) at two firms in West Sussex, before setting up his own specialist family law firm, Edward Cooke Family Law, in 2018 in Chilgrove, between Chichester and Petersfield.

Edward is an accredited family law specialist with Resolution, the nationwide organisation of over 6,500 family law professionals committed to constructive resolution of family law issues. He is a member of the Law Society's family law panel.  Edward is also an accredited mediator and is qualified to see children direct in the mediation process.

As a solicitor, Edward advises clients on the full range of issues arising on separation or divorce, he but has particular expertise in complex financial cases (particularly involving pensions and business assets) and cases over child arrangements on separation or divorce.

As a mediator, Edward assists couples in resolving issues arising out of their separation, both in connection with finances and relating to the children.

Edward believes passionately in the benefits of mediation and collaborative practice.  He trained as a collaborative lawyer in 2006 and was instrumental in setting up a collaborative law "pod" (group) in the Chichester area.

In 2017 Edward was elected to Resolution’s national committee. In 2018, Edward won the John Cornwell award, a national annual award presented to a Resolution member or group of members who have gone the extra mile in their work to support separating families.
